Scatter My Ashes At Bergford’s – The Movie!

It’s the most mythic of all American emporiums – a one-of-a-kind Manhattan institution where over the last century; the view of fashion has been transformed into modern art.  But behind Bergdorf Goodman’s magical window displays lies a very real world where the rich and famous wield their power and eccentricity, where young and talented designers have their dreams granted and denied, and where money and ambition co-mingle with radical ideas of beauty and provocative style.  Now, for the first time, audiences get a chance to peek inside this world, as Matthew Miele’s Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s explores the history, inner workings and untold stories behind the store’s rise from a modest ladies’ tailor shop to a mirror of contemporary culture.

The legends, the parties, the windows, the women, the buyers and shoppers all come to life in this portrait of a realm where creativity and commerce collide. The 111-year history of Bergdorf Goodman echoes American history as the store comes of age.  Miele traces the tale from the store’s immigrant start to its merger with the celebrity culture of the 50s and 60s to its now vital role cultivating the design prodigies fueling a global fashion obsession.

Scatter My Ashes atBergdorf’s reveals the store after-hours, introducing the people and personalities who make it tick -- from fashion director Linda Fargo, the Bergdorf’s gate keeper who has the power to make and break the careers of new designers; to window decorator David Hoey who turns Christmas displays into gallery-worthy exhibits; to personal shopper Betty Halbreich, who doles out her no-holds-barred style advice to movie stars, politicians and fashionistas from around the world.

At the heart of it all are a series of funny and revealing stories from a star-studded list including Giorgio Armani, Candice Bergen, Manolo Blahnik, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Naeem Khan, Michael Kors, Karl Lagerfeld, Lauren Bush Lauren, Susan Lucci, Christian Louboutin, Catherine Malandrino, Gilles Mendel, Isaac Mizrahi, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate OlsenThakoon PanichgulJoan Riversand Jason Wu, among others.

The Best Maxi Dress For Your Body Type!

If you are Petite: Aim for a higher waistline! Empire waists give the illusion of height, even when you're in flats. Also, avoid large prints, those will just overwhelm your small frame.

If you are Wider in the Hips: Go for a simple combo dress. Make sure the bottom is always a solid color in a darker shade than the top. The effect is extremely slimming.

If you have an Hourglass Figure: Choose a cinched-waist style with a full skirt. See? It's just a longer version of the fit-and-flare, and those look amazing on you!

If you are Busty: Aim for a V-neck. These balance your cleavage and collarbone in the most flattering way possible.

If you have an Athletic Build: Opt for a fitted column! It makes your long and lean shape look even longer and leaner.

Miss Wu Collection By: Jason Wu!

Jason Wu has produced another solid, salable, perfectly quirky collection for his new contemporary label, Miss Wu.
It’s a little less girly and precious than his first outing, but the collection clearly continues to be an outlet for Wu’s ’60s obsession with groovy colors and patterns, short shift dresses and colorful oxfords layered under everything, lending the whole collection a librarian-chic feel.

Downy Unstoppable Scent Booster - This Giveaway is Over!

Updated 4/30/2013 - This Giveaway it's over, but stay tune to find out who Won It!

Gang, Downy has reveal the "Secreto" for their Latinos Imparables Tour. The Unstoppable's "Arstistas" are Jessey & Joy!

I am very excited about this announcement because they will be going on tour for 12 weeks, and they will be closing their tour here in Dallas, TX on June 12th at the House of Blues. I can't wait to get my tickets and also my back stage passes to get to meet them. I am such a huge fan of their music, and again I am very excited about this announcement. I can't wait for June to get here.

Last Wednesday, March 27th, I had the amazing opportunity to be part of Downy’s Unstoppable #LatinosImparables video shoot featuring Latino Stylist Francis Bertrand.

Francis Bertrand

At the shoot Downy and their team of #LatinosImparables shared with us, oh yes, did I mention I shared the spot-light with some amazing Latina Bloggers from around the states? We were all flown to be part of this amazing experience with the Downy team and Mr. Bertrand. Get to meet them!

Meet Amanda from Las Gringas Blog , Yoly from Cuponeando , and Carla from Notas de Mama .

Anyway, at the shoot Downy shared with us their new product Unstoppable In-Wash Scent Booster, which I must say it smells super “Rico”.  The scent can last up to 12 weeks and as a fashionista, not only do I like to look my best, I also like for my clothes to always look neat and smells “rico” at all times.

Now here is the best part, Francis and the Downy team were actually washing the clothes for an upcoming Live Nation Latin tour and using the Unstoppable Scent Boosters to keep the “artista” clothes smelling nice and clean during their weeks tour. I am so sorry for not being able to reveal the name of this “artista” since we were told on set that it must remain a “Secreto”. As soon as I get the ok to reveal the name, I will be singing like a canary. LOL

Downy was so kind that they shared two bottles of this amazing product with me to bring home. As a thank you for your support I would like to share one bottle with one lucky winner. All you have to do is follow the simple rules below.

Good Luck to all entries!

The Latin Billboards Awards

Last night Venezuelan actress and singer Kimberly Dos Ramos, star of Nickelodeon’s show Grachi, walked Telemundo’s annual Latin Billboards red carpet and showcased top P&G spring beauty trends. Kimberly (also known as Kimy), wore a floral Carolina Herrera dress, with glam by Olay, Pantene, & COVERGIRL. All glam was done by celebrity hairstylist (and makeup artist) Gabriel Samra.

Curious in how to recreate Kimberly’s “Romantic Spring Glamour” look? Just follow these easy steps from her Hair & Makeup artist: Gabriel Samra.

Prepping your Canvas:

·         The key to any great look is to start with a clean canvas. Before applying anything on Kimberly’s face, he used Olay Total Effects Wet Cleansing Cloths to start with a bare face. She has great skin, which is the foundation to a beautiful look. It shows that she maintains a regular regimen and doesn’t leave skincare until the last minute! A red carpet no, no…

·         Next, to prep and moisturize her skin he applied Olay Total Effects CC Cream in Fair to Medium. CC Cream is the latest in skincare and the artist loves it because it offers instant coverage, perfect for capturing that spring glow, and it also offers long term benefits.

·         Ladies, lashes play a leading role in a romantic look so show them some love! he prepped Kimberly’s eyes with the new  Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo that has a hydrating eye cream with  a nourishing Lash Serum to provide smoother-looking lids, firmer skin and instantly thicker-looking lashes.

Painting your Canvas:

·         Face: He started out by applying Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundationin Creamy Natural (820) to even out Kimberly’s skin tone. Afterwards, he applied COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Rose Silk (105) to her cheek bones to add a soft rosy glow to give her that spring flush.  To set the look he used COVERGIRL Clean Pressed Powder in Creamy Natural (120) to finish off the face and reduce the brightness of the skin so that Kimberly was camera ready.

·         Eyes: To really keep the whimsical feel of spring, he applied COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers Eye Shadow in Shimmering Sands (110). The rose tones added subtle pop but kept the look very natural. To give her a wow factor he lined her eye with COVERGIRL Liquiline Blast Eye Liner in Brown Blaze (420).

·         As Gabriel’s said, the lashes give this look a smooth flirtatious vibe so he really wanted to enhance them. In order to bring out Kimberly’s beautiful blue eyes he played up her lashes with COVERGIRL Clump Crusher Mascara in Very Black.

·         Lips: To add a delicate splash of color he used COVERGIRL Lip Perfection in Spellbound (325) and then  COVERGIRL Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lipgloss  Lychee Splash ( 526).

The Finishing Touch:

·         Hair: When Gabriel saw her dress he instantly knew he could accentuate Kimberly’s femininity and soft features with a loose fish tail braid. To make sure that the braid stayed in place throughout the night he used Pantene Pro-V Anti-Humidity Hairspray, it provides maximum hold and adds shine. It’s perfect for Miami’s humid weather, where the show takes place.
