Those
looking for wedding dress ideas should check out a new exhibition at the
Château de Haroué entitled “Les Plus Célèbres Robes de Mariée” (in English,
“The Most Famous Wedding Dresses”), curated by retired designers Hubert de Givenchy and Philippe Venet. The
18th-century castle, which is based near Nancy in France’s Lorraine region, was
built and is still owned by the Beauvau-Craon family.
Princess
Beauvau-Craon
is playing host to the summer exhibition, which showcases vintage bridal
designs by couturiers including Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Yves
Saint Laurent and Pierre Balmain, as well as the show’s directors. Many of the
dresses are on loan, while some hail from fashion collections, such as a gold
and pink embroidered organza creation that featured in Givenchy’s fall 1992
couture collection. Also on show is a copy of the wedding gown designed by Elizabeth
and David Emanuel for the late Princess of Wales, on loan from the Museo
de la Moda fashion museum in Santiago, Chile.
