Pre-Fall
2013 finds Derek Lam continuing
his exploration of Britain’s youth-fueled, mid-century cool. He’s been
injecting this mod energy into the collection for several seasons and it’s
beginning to truly gel as an integral part of
his brand’s current aesthetic.
It’s
about a flat-front menswear pant (this time, contrast-yoked for a segmenting
effect), a slim coat, and a tomboyish attitude. It’s also about the sort of
kicky skirt that is best styled with gogo boots and a Vespa; Lam’s featured a
1/2-kilt flounce that took it out of that tarty Lolita territory best left to cosplay enthusiasts. That’s not to say that
there weren’t charming glimpses of the “parochial”; Lam’s argyle sweater paired
with inky leather shorts would make for the most chic of school-issued
uniforms.

I need that cobalt coat ASAP. Also, glad to know that this cobalt trend is carrying through the year because I love it and I don't want it to go away :)
